PureHoney

Ok, so this is the story of how the Kwak got into the PureHoney Publication...
It started back in the summer when I decided that I needed to go wheatpaste a few things in the Lake Worth area, by the nightclub Propaganda,
more specifically.

These are the pieces I put up that day. Pretty cool I thought, 1 of the places off my long list of spots to tag... And that's about all the thought I gave that. Anyway, a few weeks later, I get a message in my FB inbox from a friend of mine asking my permission to pass along my info to another one of her friends who was looking for the artist who created the above images.. She obviously was the key link in all of this (thank you Elise). So Steev, from PureHoney said he like my guy and wanted to know if I was interested in being in his magazine..
(ummm, yes!)  so again, a few weeks went by before I got all the details and specs I needed, turns out, he wanted me to do the centerfold (by this time, I was beyond stoked) and got to work on designing something new and fresh for it.  Submitted the artwork, waited again, and got the call that the magazine was out and I could finally pick it up!  So E and I hopped on the scooter and went to pick it up... check out the photos,
and be sure to go out and get a copy for yourself! They are all around Lake Worth, Delray, Boca, Ft Lauderdale, and Miami... And I have a bunch of extra copies too, so hit me up...

Kwak in Key West

We decided to take a mini-vacation to Key West a little while ago. Now for those of you who don't know, Key West is an island that is approximately 4 miles long & 2 miles wide. So that being said, while packing for the 4 day trip, we armed ourselves with about 100 kwak stickers and (3) 5' tall prints ready to wheatpaste.

The busiest and most touristy street is, of course, Duval Street and it didn't take long for us to just smother the town with stickers... I am confident in saying that there is probably not a sign, pole, or phone booth (yes they still have public phones) left untouched... So, for me, the best part of going to Key West is renting scooters, cuz duh...scooters are really fun, but also, that was the easiest way to scope out the rest of the island.

On that trip, we even had a new member of the crew go out with us for the 1st time and  help with the 5' prints, which we did successfully. (Thanks lil' E) All in all, we had a great time all weekend and I would recommend that anyone go there for at least a long weekend if you can, living on 'island time' even for a few days,  is the greatest feeling in the world... Check out a few of the photo's...

The Kwak goes to Wynwood

So a few of us went to Art Basel in December of 2010 (which was incredibly inspiring) also, in December,  my boy Evoca1 put one of his many amazing pieces there... So my eyes were now set on the Wynwood Arts District in Miami... Thinking about having my work up on the same walls as some of the greats was all I could think about... Shepard Fairey, Invader, ROA, Gary Baseman, Retna just to name a few...anyway,so I decided that I needed to go pretty big, since I wanted to leave an impression obviously...Went to get my Greed Kills guy printed - went home to cut them out, make a batch of wheatpaste, and E & I went down to see what kind of mark we could leave... Here are some photo's from the night.

A Kwak is born...

Ok, so the "Media Kills" sticker seems to be growing in popularity, but I felt like
it was time for another image, little did I know that this was really now the onslaught of "the Kwak".

I decided after watching the documentary "Inside Job" that I needed to express how deflated and angry I was that the very country I was born and raised in, the very country that family members of mine, defend in war, that this country could really let all of this (and more) happen to us.... For what? Money....Power.... it is all very dizzying and disheartening..
So what stood out foremost was how GREED is one of the most powerful drugs know to man. This is my image. You don't have to agree with my views, but you cannot deny the message.
